Attached is a post card mailing announcing an information meeting on the Genetic Stock Identification (GSI) Project and an update on the 2006 Emergency Disaster Relief Funding. It is our intention to inform the industry on what is the current situation on both issues. There was not a lot of advance time to set the meeting. First class post cards were mailed last Friday to expedite the meeting information. Unfortunately we are at the mercy of the postal system and as of Thursday, June 21 it appeared that many of the cards were not received. We are using this email distribution system to help get the word out. The meeting will be informal and there will be no official opportunity to air comments. Instead we will be asking those interested in commenting on the both topics to send written comments to the California Salmon Council at info@calkingsalmon.org. The California Salmon Council is in the process of setting up a link on the Council.s website to provide the latest information. Much work still needs to be done to establish the disaster relief criteria. The June 26 meeting will be informational in nature and following the meeting the material discussed will be posted on the California Salmon Council's website for review.
